After a chance to visit both cities of the dual crown of the former Habsburgs Empire, today we take a nice train ride through the Slovenian country side and mountains and end up visiting a beautiful hidden gem of Ljubljana.

Found delicately nestled on the Ljubljanica River, its home to the famous greats such as Jose Plecnik and France Preseren.

Ljubljana is alive in summer with street performers, festivals and with its many bars and restaurants located right on top of the river, it really does offer something for everyone who visits. With lots of lovely shops in its stone laid shopping street, to its everyday fresh fruit markets that offer the best of Slovenian produce.

So from beautiful sights and walks, to the plentiful bars and clubs, you will find something in the evening to keep you entertained also! What’s not to love about this place? Perhaps tonight you might try a traditional meal made from Stallion!

We move our journey into our final country of Croatia, but don’t worry as we head towards Zagreb today on the train we are just at the beginning of our Croatian experience.

Sun and fun is coming up as the tour moves to Split, but first no trip to Croatia can be complete without visiting the heritage listed and almost unbelievable experience you can only get in Plitvice Lakes.

Break out the sunscreen, camera and walking shoes as we spend some time discovering the crystal clear waters of the lakes. Blue, Green, Grey, Clear you name it…. You’ll see lakes that you thought could never exist anywhere in the world.

Finally head towards the coast to our stop for the night in Split, the city that hugs the Adriatic Sea and cools you with its sea breezes in the hot Croatian sun.

Walk down to the port and see all the cruise ships, yachts or catamarans sailing the deep blue or pulled up in harbour before discovering the hidden markets inside the remains of Diocletian’s Palace. Maybe for you it’s all about hunting down the beaches located walking distance from the city’s centre.

Later that night you can walk up the steps in the city centre and narrow alley ways and find yourself an amazing restaurant with a view of the Adriatic and sunset to really cap of your day.

Breakfast Included

Your journey takes a detour through a little gem of a city Mostar in Bosnia. Here we get time to take in the unique architecture and history, whilst enjoying the views of the Mostar Bridge, shopping for amazing souviners and lunch along the river.

After filling up on culture and food It’s time to venture back into Croatia and hit Dubrovnik and find out why this city has earned its name and reputation as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’.

Here we meet a local guide who will spend some time with you talking about the sights of the city as well as some of its modern history and role in the Yugoslav wars.

This city is an absolute delight and unlike anything you have seen on this tour with its surrounding walls and plethora of Croatian limestone that makes the streets seem to glow in the day and shine in the evenings.

The afternoon is yours to discover the port and to think about things you want to do on your free day in Dubrovnik. Discover some of the hidden local restaurants for a wonderful meal. Perhaps you wish to spent the evening in town for the after sun fun? Dubrovnik does not disappoint with some wonderful lively bars and late night fun…. If that’s what you’re after!

Walking tour of Dubrovnik with local guide

Today is your day to go at your leisure. There is plenty to do today now that the sun is coming up and things are starting to get warm.

You have the option hitting some of the beaches located outside of the city centre or you can get your camera ready and walk along the cities ancient walls for the most stunning views of the Adriatic and the Terracotta roofs of the city.

Maybe take a ferry out to Lokrum Island, but watch out for the nudes though!! (ask your tour leader) or maybe visit some of the cities museums and learn more about the Yugoslav wars and Croatian history and culture.

Our advice is to ask the locals about the best kept secret in Dubrovnik and find the gate that leads to cliff side bar, where you will find people drinking, eating and crazily cliff jumping into the blue waters. Being the last day of tour this sounds like a perfect place to join up with your group and have a final farewell drink or three whilst watching the sun set over the Adriatic Sea and on an unforgettable experience.
